Kausani (Alt.: 1890 M) is a hill station with natural beauty situated in the Bageshwar district and 53 KM North of Almora. This place offers a view of 350 KM span of the Himalayan peaks like Trisul, Nanda Devi and Panchchuli. The town lies on the atop the ridge amidst dense Pine trees overlooking Someshwar valley on one side and Garur and Baijnath Katyuri valley on the other. 

Another attraction named 'Anashakti Ashram’ is a quiet and revered place where Mahatma Gandhi spent some days and wrote his commentary of ‘Anashkti Yog’. Pant Museum is another place of importance, this is the place where the famous poet of Hindi literature Sumitranandan Pant was born. This place is preserved in its original ancestral form and served as a reference library on him.

Lakshmi Ashram is located in a solitary area among dense pine forest 1 KM away from the Kausani, and run by Kumauni women. It is dedicated for social service and upliftment of women. Gandhiji's disciple, Sarlaben (Kaitherine Heileman) spent her life here doing social service and established Anashakti Ashram. Tea gardens (5 km on Bageshwar Road), Baijnath group of temples (16.5 km on Bageshwar Road) and Bageshwar are the places of tourist’s interest. A large and popular fair is held on the day of Makar Sankranti (which is usually known as 'Uttarayani' in the local language) near Bageswar.

Weather
Kausani experiences snowfall during the months of December and January. Temperature varies between 26º- 10º C in summer and 15º - 2º C.in winter. The hill resort of Kausani is a retreat in the summer months and may be visited during April-June and September-November.

By Air: The airport nearest to Kausani is at Pantnagar, at a distance180 km.

By Rail: The railway station at Kathgodam is the nearest railhead to Kausani at a distance of 142 km and caters to the rail transport to Kausani.

By Road: Kausani is well connected with the other hill resorts like Almora, Ranikhet, Pithoragarh, Gwaldam and Nainital through road route.
