Baijnath, a small town situated on the left banks of the Gomti River in the Bageshwar district at a height of 1,130 m (3,707 ft). The place is noted for its ancient temples made of stones with an archaeological and historical importance built during the period of Katyur dynasty between 12th and 13th century. Baijnath has remained the capital of Katyuri Kings and was once known as Kartikyapura, houses the beautiful idols of Shiva, Ganesh, Parvati, Chandika, Kuber, Surya and Brahma in the temple’s complex which are located at a distance of 19 kms from Kausani, 72 kms from Almora, 24 kms from Gwaldam and 23 kms from Bageshwar

The tourists visiting Kausani may easily travel to Baijnath.
